I want to understand you,

the shadows of my heart said to the light.

Despite all your suffocating and dazzling intentions,

I feared your radiance would surely disappear.

The eye is always caught by objects that ignite.

But it’s the secrets in the darkness that propagate.

I quietly observe you, yet I can’t ascertain your motivations.

So I'll linger here, patiently waiting for you to beckon me out.

In the deep crevices of my soul are haunting memories of failure and mistakes.

Tucked away with all the shame in the cathedral of my heart.

There lie the relics of lessons on patience, grace, and kindness.

The numerous mysteries of life’s inevitalbe up and downs.

I boldly stretch out my hand in the darkness,

Waiting to feel yours reach back for mine.

Fighting to escape the echoes of disappointment that taunt me.

Resolved to relinquish control over all these defeats.

The storm that once raged around me, was intended to fracture me to shambles.

Yet somehow, I stood in the thunder and weathered the downpour of chaos.

Midnight doesn’t last forever when the demons show up.

Reciprocating hate with hate only multiplies evil.

Though my heart was once lost to a moonless night,

It was just a phase that will rise in perfect light.

For I have loved the stars to fondly, to be fearful of the dark.

All the beauty of life is made from shadows and light.
